Regional Airline

If you were going to create a regional airline, what three turboprops would you pick. Give reasons
why you would pick these aircraft.

I would fly in Alaska. That means some really rugged conditions with short strips and no room for error. And we have ice which rules out the ATR series.

Probably I would have a mix of two aircraft Dehavilland Dash-8 200/300. They have common type ratings and I can manage the capacity of the aircraft. Also I can pull some of the seats out and run the aircraft as a combi. Which is really important in rual areas. Also the Dash-8 has some of the best STOL charicteristics out there.

To feed these routes, Nothing can beat the Twin Otter. It's two PT6 engines are bulletproof and the aircraft can be flown on skis and floats. It seats 19 and can stop and take-off on a dime.

Since I forsee a cargo componet of this operation I will pick out the Lockheed L-100 Herk out for my third aircraft. Another great performer, it can handle unusual loads without ground support. Since it is a pricy bird to operate I would however have to operate it on a AMCI/on demand basis.
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

Hi there, I just spent quite a long time reading up on the new Q400 from Bombardier, you should go to their website and read up on the new Quiet Series Q200/Q300/Q400. The Q400 is a stretch of the Q300 and has room for up to 78 pax and is also a lot faster, 350 knots compared to the Q200/Q300 295/287 knots respectively. If I had a regional airline I would not bother with the 19 seat market it is closing so fast but larger turboprops are here to stay for a really long time.
As RJ traffic grows so does the turboprop market unlike what everyone thinks. For my fleet I would have the...
Dornier
328 w/ 32 seats
Bombardier
Q200 w/ 37 seats
Q300 w/ 50 seats
Q400 w/ 70 seats

I would fly out of Boston, NY, Washington, Philadelphia to everywhere east of the Mississippi River. I would stick the Q400 on all routes that might have competition from the RJ since the Q400 has regional jet speeds but the economics of a prop and also has full galleys for hot food and is also as quiet as a jet.
