What Airlines Fly 747s To Your City?

Mon Dec 11, 2000 6:00 am

I'm curious to know which city gets the most number of airlines flying 747s into its airport. Which airlines fly 747s into your airport?

Mine - Montreal

Air Canada -400Combi YUL (winter)
Air France -400 YUL -200F YMX
Royal Air Maroc -400 YUL
KLM -300Combi YUL
British Airways -200 YUL (winter)

Cargolux & UPS were sending 747-200Fs (YMX) but I'm not sure if that still exists.

Apparently Northwest flies a 747 in three days a week very late at night and it leaves very early in the morning, probably CLE-DTW-LAS.

Hey Redngold, are you sure about that 747 in Cleveland. I have recently flown in there late at night three times in the last month on different days and have not yet seen it. I have seen pictures of a few landing there, but aren't they diverted from DTW if there is bad weather. I know that NW's keeps about seven aircraft there over night. They are usually 727's.

Also at DFW,

UPS - only during peak holiday times.

Correction, JAL only flies MD11's into DFW, although they have utilized them in the past.

And most of the cargo airlines listed above by Blink182, are not very regulars with 747's, except for:

China Airlines
Korean Airlines

You might want to know that KE no longer flies the passenger versions of the 747-400 into SFO. That's been replaced by a really nice-looking 777-200ER.

KLMBlue--> at BOS Virgin also flies 747-200. I have also seen a Polar Air cargo 747 at BOS.
VirginA340---> At JFK Kuwait Airways no longer operates 744, the service has been replaced by B777. One Airline you did not mention that operates 747-200 and 747-300 into JFK is Pakistan International(PIA)
I currently live in boston but my home city is Karachi,Pakistan. 747 operating at KHI until a few years ago were :
Pakistan International
Singapore Airlines (now A340)
Saudi Arabian (Now B777&A300)
Phillipine Airlines (Discontinued)
KLM (Discontinued)
Air China (now B767)
Air France (Discontinued)

I live in SEA, and have never seen an Emery 747! UA used to operate the 747-400 to Narita and Denver, but I believe both have been upgraded to 777 service. UA also flies 727, 757, 767, 737, and A320 from SEA to DEN. Cool, aye?

I haven't seen United 747s for a time at SEA either. Doesn't Cargolux and Polar fly to SEA? I have only seen 767s from SAS. UPS flies 747s to BFI during the summer. That is so cool to watch. I also know that UPS, Korean Cargo and Cargolux are the only ones that fly to PDX.

Yes, you are correct on that Cargolux operates the 747-400F into SEA on almost a daily basis. I am unaware of a Polar flight, but I could be wrong. I think that when SAS flew 747s, they operated them into SEA. I agree that seeing the UPS 747 touch down at BFI is awsome!

Recent flight was operated on a Boeing 744s, no picture being shot at in 1994 when I last seen this plane arriving at DFW. I could have made the shot at this marvelous 744 heading north to DFW.
Lufthansa now operates an Airbus 340-300s for the last 3 - 4 years, not sure when they changed it to A343....

DFW is underway Terminal D construction, and will start to operates in Year 2005. This terminal will be DFW International Gateway for all current / incoming new international carriers in near future. Some carriers will operate Boeing 747s somehow their way for the destination, length.

Just a few comments and questions to some of the answers....
I thought Qantas had stopped flying to SFO (and that was why there was such a big hurrah in United officer in SF who promptly took up the SFO SYD non stop route with a 747 400 which i belive is doing very well).
Air France I thought also stopped flying 747 400 to SIN and had switched first to A340 and now to 777 ?
I live in Paris, I have seen all sorts of 747s, cant remember them all...a few I remember are Thai,Singapore (changed to A340 or 777 ?), Malaysia (now 777 ?), Qantas, Air France, Cathay ..well most asian airlines...never saw european ones nor american ones (united now uses 777, TWA 767 ?) Air Canada I think sometimes uses the 747.
