New Airlines In Hong Kong

Thu Dec 14, 2000 11:37 pm

I've heard of rumors saying that:

Pacific Airlines is going to inaugurate services to Hong Kong from Da Nang, Vietnam on 22 December. There are 2 flights per week. Equipment is A310.

Royal Khmer Airlines is expected to inaugurate services to Hong Kong from Siem Reap, Cambodia on 1 January which also marks the startup date of this new airline. Equipment is 737-300 or -400. Other destinations of the airline are Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

Kind of good news... can anybody confirm or correct the info?

Lauda Air has applied for rights to fly from Vienna non-stop with 777s. Don't know about any more details. American Airlines is expected to start flying into Hong Kong from Chicago, San Jose or Seattle. Continental is expected to fly from Houston.

Could somebody please confirm these too.

I heard that Pacific Airlines would usea MD-80/90 aircraft, apart from that I've heard thesame news as you.

Tonight another IL-76 was not approved to fly to Hong Kong. Just like the last one it went to Macau.

Pacific Airlines will indeed operate the MD90 for the twice weekly Danang service, and fromMarch 2001 a Danang-Taipei service will be offered.

I hope the Lauda 777 service will happen. They only pulled out about a year ago with the 767 service via Bangkok. Landing charges must surely be dropping if airlines are looking at HKG once again. I hope that SAS will look at Hong Kong once again, perhaps with the 330/340.

N503JB, do you work for Pacific Airlines? If yes, can you provide a schedule (what date and time) are they coming? I only know that they're coming on 22 December.

Thanks!

DRAGON AIR, you always say DARGON AIR.

Still don't understand why such a small carrier is going to park their plane at CLK for 12 hours.

I've just heard that CO will repaint the Peter Max 777's in April !!!, I hope I see it in HKG.

N503JB,

Is that not 22 December for the first flight? If so I'll be going to Sha Lo Wan in the morning on 23 December. If it's 20, anyway, I can still go on 21 December in the morning.

Hkgspotter1,

I've also heard that Continental's inaugural flight from Newark into Hong Kong will be flown by the Peter Max 777. And yes, shortly after that in April it'll be repainted back into the regular CO livery.

Answer the question for you (little boy)!!The reason is business reason!!! You don't have to understand, because this is not your business and you just a little spotter in Hong Kong! Continental is understand what they are doing on their business for EWR-HKG-EWR!!
