Spotting Today @ Pmd!

Sat Dec 16, 2000 8:05 am

What a great day today (Fri.) at Palmdale Airport. In a 3 hour visit, this is what I saw. Boeing's 717 did 6 "full stops" and 1 low pass, "Torch 01 Heavy" (B-1B) did 5 touch & go's and 1 low pass, "Dagger 1" (F-117) 2 low passes, "Nasa 852" (F-18) 3 low passes, "Coastal 11" (Sabreliner) 6 low passes, "Xray 24" (U-2) came in for a full stop landing and "Cobra 33" did 3 low passes. The most impressive was the B1-B's passes over us. There is a dirt lot at the end of Rwy.25, which is the most active runway and a clear view of the whole airport from this spot. The wind was playing havoc with some of the aircraft out flying in the vicinity today as there were numerous complaints of "Moderate to Severe" turbulence on the approach & tower frequencys. Jeff

Sounds to me like you saw a Mini Desert Storm. I have also seen the SR 71 there several times doing touch & goes. About two years ago they had two C-5A and a C-17 in the pattern. Brian
