Would you choose Virgin or BA?

Air New Zealand has a flight too!

I have never flown on Air New Zealand. I have flown on BA and VS. Both are great airlines with exceptional service. On BA you will be getting a 747-400. On VS you can get either a 747-400 or A340-300 depending upon what time your flight leaves.

I would rather fly Virgin Atlantic because it is a really cool airline and ive already flown on a 747-400 of BA.

Depends on what you want on your flight. With United, Americana and Virgin you get a personal TV, with Air New Zealand and British Airways you don't. 744s with BA, NZ and one of VS's flights. 777s on AA and UA and 340 for the other flights. Personally I'd like to try flying Virgin b/c I've heard they're a really good airline. Or else I'd go United since I've had really nice trans atlantic flights on 777s with them recently.

If seat pitch is important, ANZ has a 34" pitch on their 744's, and they'll let you choose your seat in advance (even bulkhead and exit rows- I've done it).

You can tell from my name!! When are you flying?? AirNZ will have the PTV's in, in the Middle of June 2001.

There service is excellent and their legroom bets all others.

Don't get me wrong!! All of these airlines are top choice. I think you should choose from people who have experienced an airline not just sa "I have heard..."

I have flown BA and they are also a great airline. Also some of BA's Flights have PTV's installed!!

I flew LAX - LHR on Air NZ B747-400 last September, they certainly didnt impress me. The leg room wasnt a factor as i was sitting at an exit row but the seats were uncomfortable, the aircraft interior was tatty, a very poor inflight entertainment system, food was ok but not great. I would NOT vote them as my airline of choice.

BA, flew LHR - LAX on a B747-400, the flight was empty, so its now fair to compare it to the ANZ one. However this aircraft also didnt have a very good inflight entertainment system. The legroom sucked and was a disgrace in comparison to some Middle Eastern airlines and Asian Airlines.

So i guess that leaves you UA and VS...... but there again you have left out that all important deciding factor.... COST.... who is the cheapest?

Hi!
Choose Virgin Atlantic, I am doing the same route next year on VS008 a 747-400 which leaves LAX @ 5:30pm and gets into London LHR at 11:45.

Your own personal TV's, friendly cabin crew, a real pleasure. Don't wanna cause a war or anything but BA is not a patch on VS!!

So for the people of your nation..
..Choose Virgin Atlantic!

Regards!

AA, and UA also fly LAX-LHR. I'd choose the in this order:
AA
BA
VS
UA
Air New Zealand

I have flown all the airlines that fly the route! My first choice would have to be belive it or not UA!! I just flew them 3 weeks ago across the Atlatic and I was impressed! VS is extremly overarted. The seats are cramped, worse than the other airlines on the route!! If PTV's are important fly VS but other wise choose one of the others...... VS is not all that its hyped up to be!! Ofcourse if you were not interested in flying non - stop I would say give one of the European airlines a shot, SR & KL are highly recommended for any future trips!!

I have flown UA,AA,BA, and VS on this route. For US airlines UA provides the best service, seat was better than AA and they have equal entertainment. VS is better than BA to me simply for the PTV's, you probably won't get that with BA. Personally, all these airlines have bad seat pitch on this route, on my flights, VS had the least and the other three were the same. If you have any FF status with AA or UA pick that one. IF not I would fly UA because overall they are best or equal to the othes in: PTV's, seat comfort, seat pitch, Cabin service, Food, aircraft quality, FF progarm.

I've flown ANZ and Virgin to London, they were both fine. I liked Virgin better with the inflight entertainment etc. I've not flown BA to london, only within Europe. I'd go Virgin again

Well, well. I guess I would have to say UA even though I don't like them very much.
I flew BA a couple years ago, it was a B744, the seats were cramped and the food not to impressive. But it was fine, the flight attendants were nice, etc.
AA was good, but that was back in the 767 days and I would have prefered to be on a larger aircraft.
UA was most likely the best. I flew them last December because AA was sold out. The PTVs were good (when they worked!), food was better than BA and the 777 was nice, although a 744 would be nicer.
Now that AA has larger planes on the route (777) I would probably fly them. I've heard VS is great and I hope to fly them the next time.

If people think AirNZ is so bad then why, oh why are their Aircrafts always fully loaded??

I have also heard that UA is good but am not going to say anything about them as i have never flown them.

My parents flew Virgin Atlantic and said that the seat was small and cramped and that the FA's donot have a flare and warmnest that UA and AirnZ have.

Cheers

Over thanksgiving I flew LAX-LHR-LAX on AA. The service was great, and you will be able to fly on the 777 which is a really nice airplane. If you are flying coach class i think the 777s have the adtional leg room which is nice.
