UA's 747-123's

Sun Apr 04, 1999 2:09 am

I saw 2 United 747-123s at Honolulu. Yes, -123s, the ones they bought from American a few years back. They have the old "3 windows on the upper deck" layout. Do these actually still have a lounge, or is it real seating? I would like an opinion from someone who actually knows the answer.

No. It is all real seating. It is United Business. The upper deck on the -123 seats 16 people. It sure would be nice if it was a lounge!

According to UA's website, the upstairs is actually 16 First Class seats, the -123 being a two class aircraft.

Upper Deck First Class

In UA's FA handbook...it classifies what's left of the -100's as being Business (ex-connoisseur class) Class...there are the same amount of seats up there as Business...and on the lower deck(nose area), UA is able to squeeze more people than what regular 747 Business classes would hold.
