Boeing 777-100

My question is who in the world would operate the "-SP" version of the 777? Boeing has a plan in the works to begin development on the shorter version of the 777-200, this aircraft would look like a stubby 777, with an A310 look to it, but if Boeing launched the 767-400, why go with the 777-100? By the way, the 767-400 is an excelent aircraft, flew it the other day for the Delta and it was awesome.

The range might be the factor. I know that the 747SP has a much greater range than the 747 classic. I assume the 777SP would have a greater range than the other 777 as well as the 767.

It is my understanding that Boeing have no plans anymore to develop the 771. As you point out this segment of the market is covered by the 764.

The only criticism of the 764 at the moment appears to be range which would obviously be much improved in the 771 but chances are Boeing would encounter the same weight problems with the 771 that Airbus are facing with the A335.

The 777-100 programme was dumped in favour of the 777LR programme, which offered the same long range, without capacity penalties.

Boeing will be producing the 767-400ERX, which will have the range of a 763ER, that should be adequate (spelling?) range.
