FEDEX was the one that bought Flying Tigers and alll their aircraft including the 747Fs; Only to get rid of them a few yeears later because Fleet commonailty was important at that time for DC-10F/MD-11F for their wide bodied aircraft. Plus Flying Tigers ac looked pretty beat up as I had talked to FEDEX mechanics and pilots at MEM and EWR who've worked on their aircraft after the merger went through.

Evergreen Aviation is a privatley help company based in McMinville, OR. They have been in operation for about 40 years. The company was founded with a single helicopter, and now operates several subsidiaries including the airline, a helicopter service, ground handling, and the Evergreen Air Center at Marana, Arizona. They also purchaed the Spruce Goose from Disney, and it is now, or will be soon, on permanent display in McMinnville.

Don't wanna sound picky but it's Juneau, not Janeau.

Unlike the 747s which seem to be assigned to long-haul scheduled contract flights, the -9s are often used for on-demand cargo flights carrying mostly car parts. In the last several months, I've seen the nines in places like Smyrna, TN; Leon, MEX: and Peterborough, ONT

I'd imagine you'd see the 74's pretty regularly tech stopping in ANC, but the -9s only on occasion and chances are not to Juneau. But you never know...

One note that some may not know. When UPS was restarting their air operations in the early 1980's, they had purchased quite a few aircraft from Evergreen. Mostly 727-100's a 747, and some DC-8's. UPS used Evergreen crews to fly the UPS aircraft. UPS then started hiring their own crews as the network began to develop. This caused some problems. Alot of Evergreen crews claimed that they were promised jobs at UPS. When they were not hired on with UPS some of them had filed suit against UPS. FYI
