Easterns Corp HQ was MIA, with a huge hub at ATL, significant ops at LGA, JFK, BOS,DCA. They also tried a mini hub at MCI in the mid 80's. Tremendous rivalry between DL & EA @ATL. Many routes were flown neck to neck , very competive.
Eastern tried to balance its heavy seasonal north-south flying with more trans -cons ops to LAX & SFO, but with limited success. Also tried "Moonlight Fares" on its A-300 fleet when it was being used heavily at night for cargo ops. Some success there, to a degree. Also EAl had severl great "all the cities you can fly to in a week or month "type fares.
Many things contributed to its demise, particulary Charlie Bryan And the IAM and Frank Lorenzo, the one time owner..Long,sad story.
