Former Soviet Aircraft Out Of London

Thu Dec 28, 2000 9:26 pm

I'm wondering which airlines fly out of London using former Soviet Union built aircraft. I'm particularly interested in Tu-154 or Yak-40 / 42

Thanks.

A few weeks ago I saw a Tu-154 at LHR belonging to a Russian airline called 'P something'

Hi Parra,

i did some checks:

Belavia B2 flies to MSQ out of LHR with TU3
Aeroflot has a saturday flight to LED with TU5

these are the ones i found. Most of the other ex-eastern carriers are flying with western equipment to LON:

UN 737
T5 752
HY 762/752
PS 737
Cu Dc10
RO 737
LZ737
TE 737

hope this helps

This "p-something" airline that Englandair is referring to could be Pulkovo Airlines from St.Petersburg. They have an all Tupolev fleet of TU 134 and TU 154. However, I´m not sure if they fly into LHR.

I don't know if it was a one-off but on the 9th of this month there was a Cubana IL62 in at Gatwick.Whether this was a replacement for the AOM DC10 that often operates the Cuba flights I'm not sure. It was somewhat annoying because it was the same aircraft I had seen in Toronto a couple weeks earlier !!

I thought that the TU-154 was banned from flying to western European airports like LHR and FRA???

Have seen Pulkovo Airlines Tu134's & 154's in Heathrow this year usually on a Saturday. As far as I know it's a once weekly service on a Saturday. I think they might fly to gatwick to.
