Crossair News

Sat Dec 30, 2000 6:19 am

Travel Inside published an article about the Crossair A320 order. It includes in interview with the Moritz Suter, the Crossair CEO. He mentions that without the Qualiflyer Groups and SR, Crossair would have propably ordered the B737 800!

Does anyone have anymore information about the new Crossair Basel-Cork in Ireland flight?

Anymore information about the rumoured Crossair RJX order? I read something on this forum a few months ago. It looks like the ERJ 170 and 190 200 will NOT be able to land at London City or Lugano!

Thanks for any replies!

Kind Regards,

The only information I have is that Crossair will only order 20-25 (I think the number is too high, 5-8 is more reasonable) RJX if the ERJs are not able to land there. Until now I haven´t heard anything more.

Some months ago, I think I read in FI, that the ERJ 190 would not be able to operate London City and Lugano. What a mess!! Crossair decided to opt for the Embraer, because they offered an entire family of aircraft able to operate all destinations in Crossair's network.

I wonder, if there are some guarantees given by Embraer.

I would at least guess so. The contract should include high penalties if the performance isn´t given. Either way, I don´t have the real understanding why Crossair should order the RJX, in which version either. They have the RJ85 and 100 and both perform quite well and I don´t see the need of giving them up.

Well, it was actually obvious that Crossair must have ordered Airbus aircraft instead of Boeing jets => Qualiflyer Group. And, if Crossair needs a higher capacity aircraft on some of its routes they can easily operate a Swissair A321 with the same cockpit crew, for example. Crossairs A320s could also be operated by Swissair without problems.

I believe that Crossair has confirmed its order for all the Embraer jets ! Well, I did not hear anything about the problems of flying into London City airport and Lugano, but if so they would definitey find a solution by not loading the aircraft to the limit. Did you knwo that Crossair does the opposite in daily ops with the new Embraer145s ??? Well, sometimes when there are not enough passengers to balance the aircraft, they use sand filled bags to do so, a Crossair Cabin Attendant told me.

Hey SRA330-223,

Yes the Embraer order is confirmed (well there are still 80 options) but remember the aircraft has still nto flown and will not for another few months. The Bae 146 is a rather great plane. I just can't see and ERJ 170 or 190 operating into LCY.

Crossair ordered A320's? I didn't know that. Very nice planes. Especially with Crossair's service!
