Flew on a Wardair 747 when I was a kid. I remember sitting right at the front bulkhead and being able to stretch my legs right out and not being able to touch the wall. Also remember drinking scotch and brandy with my grandfather - very memorable as I was only 15 at the time. If I remember correctly, it was a charter flight and there were was only one 'class'. First time I had been on a 747.

I flew Wardair several times during their heyday. I flew twice yyz-lgw and once yyz-cun on DC-10's. Also yyz-San Juan on a 747. I recall these as some of the most comfortable flights I've ever been on. The interior of the planes were awash in bright welcoming pastel colors. The seating was a one class charter layout but I don't remember ever feeling cramped. The highlights of the flights always was the meal service. Everything was served on royal doulton china. They used actual china coffee cups, not the cheap plastic ones used by airlines today. But get this, dessert was not a tiny square of something in a plastic dish, they actually came down the aisle with a dessert cart. This included, my favorite, black forest cake which they sliced and served on china plates. It goes without saying there was an open bar throughout the flight. The only thing missing was there was no in-flight entertainment. I always felt this was an acceptable sacrifice.

Flew with them many times. Service was outstanding, far better than anything Air Canada or CP Air offered. There was inflight entertainment, Royal Doulton. NO CARTS in the aisles. All of the meal trays were delivered from the galley to the pax by hand, same w/ the casseroles. Bar service was by taking an order and then also delivered from the galley by tray to pax. VERY hard to beat that type of svc on a sched today in economy let alone charter. I work with many ex/Wardair people today. Sorry you missed out

Flew them several times - their service was absolutely (and literally) first class. This made life for other Canadian charter carriers very difficult, as we had to emulate or improve on their high standards! Max once told me that the reason they had no inflight entertainment was so that the pax could concentrate on the inflight service ...
