Best Seat On An Swissair MD-11 In Economy?

Sun Dec 31, 2000 7:46 am

Can somebody help me find a good seat on an Swissair MD-11? There are probably some seats, which have more legroom ore something. Or does anybody know where I can find a seatmap of the SR M11? Thanks, I appreciate your help.

Yes, I've checked their homepage. I've flown on SR's MD-11s a lot, but never had an optimal seat (always by the wing). So, for once, I would enjoy having a good seat.

The User HB-IWC (I think) once wrote that Row 21 (A-B-C) would be great, can you confirm that?

Thanks agan,

Yes those seats up in front especially rows 1-25 except those seats in the middle (i think d-e-f)are bad of course because you cant see anything out of the window. Seats 30-40 i think may be wing seats so forget about them. And the back is always bad because the wing partially blocks your view. Those front rows in economy are hard to get!

If you go for the legroom take rowm 21 (A-B-C) or 17 (A or C).

From own experiene, row 17 is GREAT!!! That's the first row after business class. It offers lots of leg room and your own TV-screen in the wall.

Enjoy your flight!!

Hey,

Someone has told me row 18 would be good, too (extra legroom). Both rows 17 and 21 were gone, so I reserved seat 18J. Was that a good choice?

Thanks again,

If you are looking for a seatmap you have to download the timetable from http://www.swissair.com . The seatmap is unfortunatly only available on the downloaded timetable. But it is worth, you get other interesting information about the SR, LX and SN fleet.

18J is a seat like any other in the plane, so no extra leg room. Extra legroom is available on the middle section of row 18. Good seats are 18D and 18G.

No because from what I heard (avion the airliners.net user) the 1st 2 rows of Y have extra legroom because there was too much room for 2 rows but too little for 3 rows!

On my flight Zurich-Narita and back I had 16, or 17 A, pretty much legroom a nice view on the edge of the wing and it´s great P&W 4000 series engines.
But It was also fine, because you just couldn´t see the wing, but also some landscape.

Ok, let me repeat you one more time, and take it from someone who traveled HUNDREDS of flights on Swissair's MD11s in all classes. The seats at the left and right hand side of row 18, those are 18 A-B-C and the 2 on the other side, DO NOT feature extra legroom.

The middle section, however, does have extra legroom as this is the first row of Y-class (no row 17 in the middle section). Best seats there are 18D and 18G.

So, whatever your Swissair agent told you, it is not correct. Most probably, he or she has never been in that seat, and, furthermore, telling you what you want to hear is a very easy thing to do.

But, than again, you don't seem to believe me, so I suggest you just check it out yourself!

HB-IWC, don't worry, I believe you. But she gave me the aisle seat 18G, that is the middle row, isn't it?
