What Airlines Are Not In An Alliance

Wed Jan 03, 2001 3:19 am

What major airlines do not belong to any alliance?

I can think of Alitalia and Olympic. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Another Airline / RE: TWFirst

TWFirst:
Northwest/KLM broke up with Alitalia some time ago. Please, for next time, make sure what you post is actually correct or then write "I assume" or "I think" with it if you're not 100% sure. Thank you.

I believe JAL isn't in an alliance either.

Just a point of clarification, is the question if airlines are not in one of the major alliances, or any alliance. Technically, AZ is in an alliance with CO in the EWR-FCO/MXP flights. CO is also aligned with NW, AS, HP, CM, etc, but it is not a formalized grouping since as far as I am aware CM is not aligned with AS.

I would find it difficult to find no airline that is not in any bilateral alliance. I'm stating opinion, but airlines like Air Zimbabwe, Ghana Airways, don't seem to be operating in an alliance.

These are all airlines that would probably be candidates for a large-scale alliance like Star, Oneworld, Qualiflyer etc. but have not yet entered or formed one.

Alitalia
Olympic
Virgin Atlantic
Garuda Indonesia
Phillipines Air Lines
PIA
JAL
Aerolineas Argentinas
TAM
Royal Air Maroc
Gulf Air
SAA
Emirates
Malaysia
Air India
Aeroflot
America West
TWA
Continental
USAirways
El Al
Asiana
None of the Big Three in Mainland China (Air China, China Northern, China Southern)

JAL really needs to join Oneworld now.

David: I think Alaska, AirTran, National etc. will get bought out before they enter a large-scale alliance. Probably even the same thing with TWA!!

Perhaps before you reprimand someone, it is YOU who need to know what the hell you are talking about. Northwest is INDEED allied with Alitalia. I am sure you are referring of KLM's decision to not merge with Alitalia some time back. However, Northwest does indeed still codeshare with Alitalia. And over here in America, Northwest markets itself as "Northwest/KLM," thus my reference to the airline as such. I can provide links to both airline's websites if this will help you.

Your apology is accepted.

Alitalia has just a code-share with continental.
But soon you might see AZ with AF.

TWFirst, one thing is belonging to an alliance, and another codesharing or participating in other airline FF program.
Does Alitalia belong to the Wings alliance now? I do not think so.
You can also find funny arrangements, IB and AF belong to different alliances (Oneworld and Skyteam) but they codeshare extensively, IB to reach some Far East markets through AF network, and AF to some South American through IB's.

First of all, thank you Krushny and DeltaSFO.

As for TWFirst:

Whose a apology are you accepting? I didn't see anyone apologize to you. As you can see TWFirst, you have already lost (thanks again Krushny). No further comments, for I shall not waste my time with people like you, TWFirst.

Thank you,

Gibberish
