BA 777 Configurations

Thu Jan 04, 2001 4:02 am

Hi guys,

On BA's website they have 2 seating plans for the 777 (see link below) Configurations 1 & 2 are at and the third at . I'm going to Antigua on 18th Feb and i was wondering which configuration they used on the planes which they use to fly there. Also, if any of you guys are on ICQ then if u want to add me that is fine, my number is 78720020.

Many Thanks,

I would guess that it was the first configuration. In know that BA uses the 2nd on flights to Saudi Arabia, as my father has sat in the very large Club World section on such a flight. From my understanding, the first is the standard.

Antigua is a touristic caribean destination , right ? So I think they use the high-density version, the third one.
like Air France. (exept that AF does not squezze one more row in those high density A/C...)

To Antigua, BA definitely use the high-density configuration (i.e with no First, 24 Club World and millions of World Traveller set at a frightful 10-abreast).

Why is it so 'frightful'? The seats at 10 abreast are still 17" wide-the same as the 737/757 and Airbus widebody aircraft. If anything, it's the aisles that 'suffer".

airbus widebody does not have more cramped seat than on 777, 747... those are just STUPID anti-airbus rumor... And, if long-haul aircraft prvides me the comfort of a short-haul aircraft, i see a problem ...

10-abreast is frightful? When did you last fly a standard-configuration 744 in economy (usually 10 abreast)? I know QANTAS is like this. I recently flew on a Lauda 777 for 24 hours to Vienna from Melbourne (Australia, in case anyone's wondering  ) with a 10-abreast configuration. I was most impressed, didn't feel squished or squashed at all! Also, I think you're right. They'd use high-density config. to Antigua. Tourists pay very for very cheap tickets, and they'd be less business travellers - so they'd have to cram them in to make money.
