Weird/Funny Thing At AUS Today!

Thu Jan 04, 2001 12:15 pm

This morning, I was getting on an SWA 737-200 to Dallas Love Field to spot at both DFW and LOV, but as I checked in, there was a man having a loud conversation with a ticket agent, I listened and it appeared that the man was saying he bought a ticket for the flight, and the ticket agent was asking him where the ticket was, and he just kept saying that he bought a ticket and didn't show it! The police ended up escorting him to a Taxi.

Weird, huh?

Yes, do you spot at AUS a lot?

Maybe we can meet sometime.

Maybe he bought his ticket on the internet and didn't have anything to show for it. That happened to me once. I lost the piece of paper I had written the confirmation # on and for some reason, I never got a confirmation/itinerary in the mail from Southwest. I did have a credit card statement showing a charge to Southwest so I took that to the airport (AUS) with me, but when I gave them my name, it was in their system, so I didn't have to show the credit card bill to prove anything.

But if Southwest has the policy to treat such orders like LoneStarMike's, then I don't think they would refuse the man if he really has bought a ticket online. Probably he's just absent-minded.

It's no big deal to find out if the man had in fact bought a ticket or not, especially if he has an ID so he can prove who he is (so that they know he's not trying to use another persons ticket). This takes about five seconds to check in either the DCS/check-in system, or about the same time in the CRS/ticket desk computer. Probably he was just another nut case. If he wasn't, and they just kicked him out, that would be bad. But let's not speculate too much as we dont' have all the facts.
