My mum has tried for weeks to find a last minute holiday in Southern Europe, but everywhere's booked. Luckily we're going to borrow a villa from a friend.
Anyway, earlier today I began searching the websites of the low cost airlines, Easyjet and Buzz (I forgot Go existed). I discovered Buzz don't fly to Palma and so entered my details into Easyjet's flight finder. The total cost of a return flight for 5 people was over £1200.I did the same on Air 2000 (charter airline) and their price was similar.
That's quite alot, especially on a low cost carrier, so I tried the websites of the normal scheduled airlines BA & BD (British Midland). BA could only get us to Palma via Madrid. On BDs website I entered the exact same info as I had on EZYs & AMMs. The return cost for 5 people on the same date was several hundred Pounds less* and with BD the flights are from Heathrow!
So the moral of the story is shop around.
Just because an airline is 'no frills' it doesn't mean the price is going to be less.

*the reason the cost was more was because EZY & AMM put their prices up for half term week.
