CDG
LGW out of STL
SJU
places in the Carribean and some in Europe as well as Tel Aviv, Cairo and Rydiha in the Middle East.
When the merger with AA goes through I hope that AA will not cut any of TWA's existing international service.

So that you know SJU is NOT an international destination. It is a non incorporated territory of the USA. All puertorricans are US citizens, and therefore there is no need for a US citizen to use a passport when entering or leaving SJU or BQN through a US destination.

I think AA is interested in the routes to TLV, RUH and CAI! They would be stupid to cut it.

Can TWA's former Spain routes be resumed by AA? How 'bout frequencies to Rome and Milan? Whaddabout Athens, and Lisbon? Will AA be interested in these "traditional" TWA routes now? It'd be great if AA can serve all of those cities in addition to securing TWA's dormant Asian routes.

What are AA's chances of moving the STL authorities to ORD and/or DFW? To me, it sounds like they want "smooth-moving" STL to be a East-West domestic connection point, while leaving strong O&D ORD/DFW to the higher yield routes and Int'l service.

Is that a big deal? DL was able to transfer authorities from PDX to LAX/JFK with little problem as I could tell...

TWA still flies JFK-SJU and they have authority to fly to NRT in Japan.

Dont forget that there is openskies agreements with most countries in Europe including Italy which means that AA can start service to Italy from any US city it wants to any Italian city it wants. France will have openskies with the US in 2003 I believe. So far Spain does not have openskies with the US so i am sure that will have to be renegotiated. Im sure that there will be a huge outcry in the UK about AA picking up the TWA STL-LGW route. Remember the hassel that both UA and AA had about taking over the London routes from Pan Am and TWA. History could repeat itself.

British regulators are mostly concerned about LHR. I think they couldn't care less who flies into LGW and from whence.

I second that from Raddog. Anyone can get permission to fly to LGW. Even ol Freddie Laker!

I think AA might hold onto STL-LGW. It just makes sense. I believe it was one of TWA's most profitable routes.

No one cares about STL in the UK, there'll be no trouble. Truth is TWA mattered when it flew ex LHR (the UK Govt has never quite come to terms with competition against BA at LHR) in that case UK liked the ailing PA and TW at LHR because it gave BA the upper hand, AA and UA were/are stronger so a bigger threat they didn't want. Times are very different now and yet so similar in more ways than one...

TWA serves Toronto with Chataqua on RJ. It's gotta be one of the longest RJ rides.
