What Are American Eagles Plans For There ATRs?

Tue Jan 09, 2001 8:23 am

I'm not sure if this is true. But is American Eagle planning to replace there ATR 42s and 72s soon? I heard with ERJ aircraft? Is this true? Any information true?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend that flies for Eagle and the entire Eagle system will go ERJ except for SJU. So, you'll see ATRs still in the Eagle fleet in the future.

From what I've heard, the AA fleet of ATR72's will be shifted to Caribbean service. The reason is simple: many islands in the Caribbean do not have airports with long enough runways to support a jet airliner, and the ATR72's relatively short takeoff/landing capability will be a major plus here.
