DC Air Gets F-100's

AA announced the wet lease of 11 Fokker 100's to DC Air. I knew it, who wants to bet those Fokker's will never see AA service again? Too bad, but good luck DC Air. And goodbye Karabu! Serves ya right!

Relax. AA will still have 64 F100s left.

(Besides that, a wet lease means that it will be operated by American Airlines, flying with DC Air paint.)

Nice I hope, it'd be a shame to deface that pretty plane. Yeah I know D L X, what I meant was that if AA keeps that 717 order, all the F-100's will probably go, most to DCAir perhaps. But thanks for the fleet info!

See folks? Read the other AA 717 threads and comments I have made. AA is getting rid of those dern F100s and making way for other planes, I think 717s. They're replacing F100s with either 737-623 or 717-223 a la TWA. I think it makes perfect sense. MAybe I am too far out there saying that AA will replace the MD-80 with a longer version of the 717, but it makes PERFECT sense to replace Fokkers with 717s. AA is getting them from TWA, they are cheap, reliable (heck, they've been around almost forty years in one predecessor or another) and are so EFFICIENT. That's what the Fokker was supposed to be for AA- cheap to own and cheap to fly.

Don't count those beater 732's out yet...If this four-airline square dance goes through, and I'm not at this point convinced that it should, Johnson would need a lot of narrowbodies to keep his promises of current US DCA service levels. He might wind up with both types for awhile. Ten 732s weren't going to come *close* to meeting current US narrowbody service levels at DCA.

I haven't heard anything about paint schemes but a fantasy site (I forget address, anyone who remembers please share) came up with a neat Frontier-like billboard title on white with red stripes, and photos of various DC landmarks on the tails.
