Delta 747, When?

Mon Apr 12, 1999 12:09 am

While looking up "Safety Card" on ebay.com, I noticed a safety card for a 1972 Delta Airlines 747. Is this real, when did they operate these, where did they sell them too, and what routes where they used on?

I believe that they were leased from Pan Am.

Delta operated 747-100s between 1970ish and the mid 1980s. Hope that helps you.

One of them went to China Airlines as B-1860 in 1975. It was CI's first widebody aircraft after they cancelled the DC-10 order. The plane was leased directly from Boeing when it was registered as N-9898. It was a -132 model. I believe it is still in service with Evergreen Air Cargo as N-479EV with modified SCD.

Delta recieved 5 747-132s between 9/70 & 11/71. All were sold back to Boeing (trade in on 727s) between 9/74 & 3/77.

The five aircraft are:

SR#/LN# Current Operator
19896/72 Evergreen International
19897/82 Polar Air Cargo
19898/94 Evergreen International
20246/155 Polar Air Cargo
20247/159 Kitty Hawk

Who agrees with me that the picture is beautiful. It sure makes me want to see them purchase the 747-400. It would look great in their livery. Who knows?
