Any PTVs Planned For Qantas?

Fri Jan 12, 2001 5:17 pm

Does anyone know of Qantas' plans of installing PTVs on their trans-Pacific flights in economy class? I am planning to visit New Zealand from LAX this fall, but UA, NZ and QF don't have PTVs currently. As you can tell, PTVs are important to me... but more important to my wife!

I prefer to fly Qantas, due to their alliance in oneworld. Any comments welcomed... thanks in advance.

As mikey has said, Qantas is already beginning to install PTVs in their 747-400 aicraft. Hence the need to lease a 747-436 from British Airways. The aircraft was originally registered G-BNLH and was withdrawn from British Airways service in October 2000. It is now currently registered as VH-NLH and is operating with Qantas with the British Airways world tail still seen. None of the QF 744s have been finished yet as far as I'm concerned.

Basic Qantas titles seen on the fuselage and the "Denmark" world tail is easily seen. Maybe VH-NLH has PTVs installed? I know that VH-NLH will be operating with Qantas for 17 months. If it has PTVs maybe your lucky enough to fly on it then

This aircraft currently operates on routes to Auckland so i sonot think you will get it.

In response to the AirNZ aircraft not having PTV's. They are installing them in March of 2001. They are a great airline but if you want to fly with oneworld alliance then Go Qantas they also are a great airline.

I just wish Qantas and AirNZ would join.

Mikey, I agree with you. Unfortunately I would have had to have happened before NZ bought AN. I have had many an excellent flt with NZ and I deal with them on a professional basis a lot. They are a great bunch of people.

Qantas used to own about 20% of Air New Zealand... (Back from when it was TEAL)
