What Airline Should I Choose?

Fri Jan 19, 2001 3:18 pm

Hey there everybody, I know i did this forum before, but I REALLY need your opinions about which airline i should go on. I will be flying on Delta LAX-JFK for sure later on in spring break, but I'm getting an airline ticket on Either Korean Air or Asiana. I love asiana sooo much that im afraid I might be missing out this year If i dont go on Asiana and go on Korean Air. But, I really want to fly on Korean Air because the last time I flew with them was in the Summer of 95' and I heard so many good things about them. So this is why I'm coming to you guys, what airline would be the best? I will be flying by myself too. Asiana Airlines or Korean Air? My flight will be LAX-SEL, and i would probably making a night flight around 1:00 AM just like last year. It would be really helpful, thank you.

Korean has a questionable safety record, though I haven't heard of any incidents lately. Unless you really want the Delta SkyMiles or Korean was a lot cheaper, I'd probably pick Asiana.

If you can fly out of JFK to SEL, I'd go with Korean Air because their terminal 1 in JFK is a real beauty. However, I cannot comment on LAX since I've never flown on either airlines over Pacific from there. But I'd stick with Korean Air barring any catastrophic accident happens between now and then. They got new people from Delta and US Air to look after their safety in order to fix up their image even before joining SkyTeam and they must be doing things rights since I haven't heard of any crash for a while. Make sure you try to book on 777 as you're more likely to be with PTV. By the way, if you have some time, spend another $50 or so and fly to SFO from LAX and go through that terminal. You must be an enthusiast to be posting on this forum and you wont' be disappointed by SFO.

I would take Korean Air over Asiana anyday.
I flew on Asiana LAX-SEL-LAX in August '00 and I have nothing positive to say about that experience.

I flew Korean Air several times in '98 '99 and '00 and thought KE was a much better airline in general compared to OZ. The ground staff can't do anyting right though.

There are plenty of choices to consider. You could even fly DL to NRT or NGO and then KE (NRT(or NGO)-SEL). UA offers non-stop service out of SFO as does SQ.

If you have never flown UA on a transpacific flight, then you will be surprised. The service was pretty good in Y class.

If you're set on OZ or KE, then go KE.
