The government allows airlines to put the Swiss flag on 2 places - on the tail and a small flag next to the registration on the fuselage. Swissair does not do to fuselage thing, but Easyjet Switzerland does, for one.

I can't think of anyone who thinks that the winglet flags don't look good.
The Swiss authorities, after an initial period of saying, "no, you can't do that, and you have to remove the ones you have already done" are now thinking (wow!) that maybe their initial reaction was too much, and maybe the rule will be changed. We'll see. But right now, the repainting is stopped, and the ones that have the winglets will stay that way at least until the government decides on the issue.
