NW DC-10 In Asia

Mon Jan 22, 2001 10:58 am

Since Northwest has announced that A333 will replace D10 for European Operations, what about asia? Because NW has daily DC-10 flights from Osaka to either Kaohsiung or Kuala Lumpur.

Probably would, I think the DC-10 flys from Seattle-Osaka-Kuala Lumpur, does the A333 have similar range to the DC-10-30?

The A330-300 has a bit more range than the -10-30, the -300 has range of 10,400km.

From what I hear from sources within NW, the SEA-KIX route will go to a 742 soon enough, with the new 744s taking over LAX-NRT.

Mr. Anderson, at NW announced in his newswire that the company will retain 12 DC10s for HNL and high capasity domestic routes. I can't imagine all 12 DC10s to HNL so maybe the KIX route will stay DC10... but a 747 might be nice!

Northwest's DC10s must operate one of the longest DC10 routes left on this planet...operating SEA-KIX-KUL. With Malaysia Airlines code-sharing with NW from this year - the KIX-KUL service may well be upgraded to a 747 soon....

...well lets hope so anyway!

What about the India flights.

I really hope NW gets rid of their DC10's to India, and replaces them with newer Airbuses.

I have been hearing horror stories about rickety overhead bins and some such from pax who had the misfortune of taking NW DC10's.

I was on one of the DC10-S that land in SEA and continue to Japan.

I dont recommend them at all if you are flying first class.

The tv screens were faded and the colors were off and the over head flourescent lights flickered on and off the whole flight. I sat in coach but the curtain was kept open and I could see that constant flickering those poor people had to endure. AND IN FIRST CLASS!

Indianguy, have you seen what those people call "carry-on" on the flights to India? Believe me, the overhead bins aren't "rickety"!
