Mr. Anderson, at NW announced in his newswire that the company will retain 12 DC10s for HNL and high capasity domestic routes. I can't imagine all 12 DC10s to HNL so maybe the KIX route will stay DC10... but a 747 might be nice!
Northwest's DC10s must operate one of the longest DC10 routes left on this planet...operating SEA-KIX-KUL. With Malaysia Airlines code-sharing with NW from this year - the KIX-KUL service may well be upgraded to a 747 soon....
I was on one of the DC10-S that land in SEA and continue to Japan.
I dont recommend them at all if you are flying first class.
The tv screens were faded and the colors were off and the over head flourescent lights flickered on and off the whole flight. I sat in coach but the curtain was kept open and I could see that constant flickering those poor people had to endure. AND IN FIRST CLASS!
