Tue Jan 23, 2001 5:27 am

what kind of airline would AA-TW be.
AA in st.louis, md-80 to the caribbean?
what about cairo, and te aviv?
did TW sell its lis, mad, bcn, mxp, fco, ath and fra to other airlines, when they stoped flying to lis and mxp as recently as this month?

No. TW still has all those route authorities. Whether or not AA gets them or uses them is another story...

I think for obvious reasons, AA would operate the route, but I think maybe out of JFK and MIA though. I think STL will be MD-80 galore, and I think mainly 757s will fly to the carribean like most of them do(please correct if wrong).

AA will maximize STL to the extent that it can. The airport is old, needs a lot of renovation, and because
of its runways, cannot accomodate major traffic
growth. However, AA could just operate TW's route
structure as it basically is, with some more West-
Coast penetration and peacefully coexist with WN,
which has sizeable STL ops.

AA would operate TW's LGW, CDG, and Caribbean
routes but I doubt AA will restart the JFK-Europe
frequencies TW dropped. It might sell them or it
might hold onto them until its new terminal is
complete. AA has a love-hate relationship with
JFK, dumping routes as often as it adds new ones.
However, with TW's old European route authority
and the Israel/Egypt/Saudi Arabia routes (AA would
probably put a 777 on TW's old JFK-TLV route) it
could pose a nasty challenge to to DL's European
and Atlantic ops out of JFK. Delta has no London
routes whereas American has six a day and has 2
profitable dailies to Paris CDG. Second, AA has a
much larger share of the corporate travel $$$$$ in
NY than does Delta, largely due to its extensive
transcon and London routes as well as the ORD
and DFW routes.

Delta's in the hot seat indeed if these mergers
really do go through. It will be pushed out from
the #2 to the #5 spot overnight, as the new
benchmarks for NY would be CO, AA, UA and
then DL. Not a desireable position.

Boeing 757s are so special to the Caribbean.... so is AA AB6s. But American AB6s are only at JFK & MIA..

Maybe 757s would fly out of STL to the Caribbean...

American should keep Tel Aviv, and Cairo open for JFK with those 777s.

Others like Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Athens, and Frankfurt; American already has Frankfurt operation from all hubs.

For Barcelona, and Madrid, AA operates out of Miami.

Others are served by codeshare partners.

I would suggest that American keep all TWA current destinations present, not close or discontinue those cities.

I will soon fly to Tel Aviv if American keep them.

If you have any more ideas what American can do to improve their merger, Let's hear it from you...  Smile
