AirTran To Increase At PIT

Wed Jan 24, 2001 6:35 am

AirTran will add one round trip a day between ATL-PIT for a total of three and one additional PIT-LGA round trip for a total of four.

Many of you may know this already but as an employee we're usually the last to find out.

As an employee, would you then know of any other PIT rumors regarding AirTran service? More flights and destinations would be great. How are the current PIT flights doing?

Rumors are always flying and, more often than not, untrue. But since you asked:

PIT will eventually become a crew base with service to Fla. cities.

We will be merged/bought out by someone soon (Continential/ATA/Frontier).

Increased delivery rates for the 717 this year, we are scheduled to recieve 12 and rumors say 24.

2 737's will be brought back online in the next 2 months.

Remember these are just rumors and like I said, are often untrue. The last rumor that actually happened was that Joe Coor would be stepping down.

No offense me, but no one would want to buy FL out. If they want the 712s, they could get them fron TW; and no major would want an airline in ATL that wasn't DL. The only possibility is that CO would buy them out, then kepp the lf ops going until merger mania is over to get DL off their backs.

Airtran Rumor Mill

Thu Jan 25, 2001 7:27 am

You didnt hear about the rumor that we aquired 4 of DL's L-1011s in exchange for all 30 of our DC-9s... I just love the rumors that people hear and repeat... I heard the ATA thing.. Airways mentioned FL and Frontier going together in their article on our buddy Joe Corr, I heard the ATA rumor, and talked to people at ATA that heard the same rumor. I dont think it would make sense, really two completley differnt concepts. but they heard it also.. But we gotta remember that FL and J7 were two completley differnt companys.

J7 was a hub and spoke airline compeating head to head with the majors. The old FL was a point to point system flying to cities outside of big cities... ISP, BMI etc...

Who knows, the day I see an L-1011 taxi over ramp 3 in FL colors I will commit my self to the nuthouse...
