It says it's a fake... but I don't know what to make of it. The wavy curves make my stomach turn, certainly not professional looking that's for sure. Looking forward to a formal picture from British Midland soon, unless it confirms it in which case I'll be speaking to Ralph on the big white telephone Big grin

That picture is SO FAKE! You can tell cause the tiny little "British Midland" looks typed. Their old scheme was by far my favorite livery ever, why are they changing it??

Only one explantion:
Mass dymensia, blindness, colour blindess and lost sence of moral decency at BM management.

C'mon guys! It even says fake on the bottom! I kinda like it actually. Plus, I thought they were changing their name to Star Airlines or something like that. What happened to that?

Yuck. It looks like something a charter company would do, not a airline that is trying to establish itself in the U.S.-U.K. market. The waves are ugly. It makes the aircraft look like it was meant to be painted in camouflage, but they screwed up the colors. I don't like the skyblue BMI near the front, and the stenciled British Flag on the tail comes out of nowhere. British Midland, please keep your old livery! That, although not at all imaginative, looked good and very business like.

How can we get it accross to the BD management that it looks totally crap, before they vandalise their a/c and waste money?

Blue is so hot in airlines these days.....

For my part, I like it, I think its "cool" looking, but I agree the old livery was classy and professional. This would resemble a livery from a new startup. However, I still like it!

Too bad, JetBlue hadn't done something like this with their planes, it would fit them much more. I still like it!

Just got this on one of the e-mail forums:

"Kerozen will put a real photo from a slide of the first BMI A320 with the new livery this evening. For information, today, the plane made some "ground training" at toulouse with big all white patch on the nose (on the BMI logo) and the tail. But we've got a approach slides of yesterday (under developing for
the moment)"

Regards,
Andy

Baroness Thatcher should get out of the livery approval business and focus more on her own appearance and her endlessly flapping gums that can't get used to the idea that no one - except for a few republicans in the United States - is interested in her musings.

Cheers Andy.

What do we do if it is what they're PLANNING to put on all of their a/c? Where can we register are discust? After all, if the public (ie. us) don't like it (and I greatly doubt many people will), it won't be put on the planes.

I agree with most of the comments thus far--too "fun" and not professional. In BD's defense, however, I have heard on another forum that the Union Jack on the tail will actually be painted in proper colors. It won't remain stenciled as the picture shows.

Globetrotter,

I doubt that is the case - remember the rudder must be painted in the final scheme before the rest of the plane even gets its first coat - i believe this is for weight issues or something, if you look the rudder is not painted in a 'finalized' or colored in union jack... that must mean this is the scheme we (unfortunately) have to live with.

Ooh la la ...was my first reaction. But I guess if you look at it long enough, you may tell yourself that you could like it...there is always a story behind the color scheme. So, I guess BM wishes to project the image British without stuffiness. It is british so it is efficient, organized, punctual etc. But at the same time the color scheme says hey we are not old fashioned, we can be silly too....Conclusion: project the positive stereotype of the british without its negative aspects.
oh well...just trying to justify it to myself and to whoever reads this.

After reading about Baroness Thatcher...imagine if BM paints her face on the tail of their planes in the style of Alaska airline ?
Now does not the proposed livery look better already ?

I have a one word response in describing British Midland's new livery:

BLEAH.  Nuts

They have GOT to be totally kidding. This hideous new livery has WAY too many busy details and just looks downright UGLY.

Well, there's another airline that has ruined its livery--and I thought the new Southwest livery was bad news.
