Inflight Cockpit Channel?

Thu Jan 25, 2001 11:14 am

I read somewhere that on some UAL aircraft you can choose a channel that plays live chatter from the cockpit. Is this true? Do any other airlines offer this?
Your input is much appreciated.

Yea, on select aircraft you can listen to ATC transmissions. Not sure about other airlines.

last time i flew United was a couple of years ago and Yes, United did have the "sounds of the cockpit" channel. I was on four different aircraft and they all had it. They were 737's. I cant confirm that all of their planes have it, but since it was published in their inflight magazine, i would assume they do. Hope this helps

Yes this is true...On most flights it is Channel 9. It is an audio where you can hear the pilots talking with ATC...Its really neat, like The pilots will request to turn, then right after the plane will start turning and you will know why..I really enjoy this feature,UA is making all flights Audio...Hope this helps..-Brett

Flew from Vegas to Dulles last week on a UAL 757 and was listening to Channel 9 most of the time. I wish other airlines supplied this service. It's better than any movie.
