Questions Regarding Toronto City Centre Airport

Fri Jan 26, 2001 4:36 am

What category is the airport's ILS?
What is the maximum size of aircraft they can handle? (Could they handle an MD-82 or a 717?)
What is the length of their runways?
What is their airport code?

ILS: Conventional (glide slope, localizer, distance measurement equipment)

Aircraft Size: BAe-146 - not sure if it can go bigger than that

Runway: one of them is 1,212 metres; not sure of the other one - will try to get info

Code: YTZ (CYTZ)

There is only one ILS/DME at CYTZ it is for runway 08 the freq is 110.15. The longest runway 08/26 is 4000 FT and I am pretty sure that the recent extension was to enable the CRJ to land there although Jets are not permitted to fly into the airport. There is a group including the GTAA that is trying to take the airport over so that it can be expanded and used for regional flights including a number of YUL routes with the Airbus. The other two runways are 3000' 06/24 and 2780' 33/15.All runways are 150 ft wide.

It's a hassle taking the ferry there. They need a bridge/tunnel for the airport and the island park.
