Sat Jan 27, 2001 3:58 am

I read on the UAL website that they now have PTVs on all international 767s. Is this true?

Yes it would appear to be true,i've been on 2 UA 763 international flights in the last couple of years and they both had PTV's.

763 Or 777 Better?

Sat Jan 27, 2001 4:09 am

If both the 777 and the 763 have PTVs, which one is preferable comfortwise?

Only having flown the UA 767, I could not say. But UAs 76s seemed comfortable to me!

763 is better in my opinion. No 2-5-2. PTVs are on some 767 intl that i know of. I flew from SFO-IAD once on a UA 763 and it DID have PTVs, however that was only because the flight was continuing on to Frankfurt. For international use you are actually more likely to have PTVs on a the 763 because UA has not installed them on all of they 777 (just yet).

Every International 3 class 767-300 has PTVs. Currently there is a special project going on to put Economy Plus in the international planes. I believe about 3 or 4 planes have gone through Econ. Plus conversions.

All of the international 3 class 777s have PTVs in every seat.

Some of the 744s have PTVs. It is planned that by August all of the internaitional fleet will have PTVs for every passenger. The 744 fleet is the only remaining fleet type that doesnt have PTVs vor everryone. but soon they will.

The domestic 767s, and 777s will not recieve PTVs. International flights in the Airbusses, 737s and 757s do not have PTVs. All planes that do trans-oceanic flights have them.

This is true about the 767s. Maybe a tip is to fly flights that continue on the same aircraft type internationally. I flew a flight LAX-ORD that continued on to EZE and MVD. For the people continuing to Argentina or Uruguay they still had to get off the plane and go to a different gate to catch their flights. Even though it was a different airline flying the domestic LAX-ORD flight and the int'l ORD-MVD flight, we still had PTVs in Coach. It was nice but I don't think that there are as many channels as the 777. I've flown coach in both aircraft and I'd rather fly a 767 with PTVs. You feel a lot less crowded and if you're stuck in the 1 middle seat it doesn't really suck.

United Airlines Boeing 767-300ER's have had PTV's in the Economy section going back to 1998. Most 763's
had PTV's in the main cabin before the problems with
the 777 fleet entertainment systems were fixed.

The channel selection from what I recall on several
flights from LHR to JFK and back when I was living
in the UK from 1997 to 1999 was basic. Nothing at
all special and nothing compared to Virgin Atlantic.
