Anyone Flown On A 777-300?

Mon Jan 29, 2001 5:16 am

I've never read of anybody flying on this type of airliner in these forums, but I'm asking if anyone has. Please summarize your experience and what you thought about it compared to other types of aircraft.

Yes, I flew on a Cathay Pacific 777-300 from Nagoya to Hong Kong last spring. The aircraft was just like any other 777 except it was very...long Smile. I was the first one on the plane and was able to look down the aisle all the way from the boarding door to the back of the a/c. Because it is bigger than a 777-200, the take-off roll did not seem like it had as much 'power' to it, but nevertheless any 777 is an inherently powerful plane and it was a very solid ride.

I flew on two - one with CX and another with ANA, the latter from Tokyo to Haneda. It was an empty and bumpy flight, but impressive. It was a fine aircraft, big and solid. The ANA configuration was not unduly comfortable, even if there had actually been more than the 50 who were on the plane!

CX was a very pleasant trip; I got J class from HKG to KIX, via TPE. One thing I remember clearly was that the RR Trents on the CX 773 were the nicest I've ever heard - a real rich, deep, purr. Lovely! The cockpit is impressive and all in all, a real nice experience. Love those 777s!

I flew a Thai 773 from BKK to DEL. It was unbelievably long. We had seats near the back and had to keep walking and walking and walking during boarding. Getting everyone off at DEL took FOREVER!

I flew on a ANA 777-300 before. Great smooth ride, and that plane is long when you get on it! If you have a coach seat, which I did not  Smile, you would have to walk a long ways back. I had to walk back to ask a F/A something. But anyways the plane flew very well. The 777-300 is my second most favorite plane! GO Boeing 777-300!!!  Big grin

I flew the 777-300 between HND and Akita in Japan. That was really an empty huge airplane!

Singapore Airlines 777-300 from Singapore to Sydney (SQ231) 29th October 2000. Just like any other 777 except we sat in the last row of the plane and from there, the pitch angle seemed to be quite great!

I flew Emirates 773 London-Dubai last December when it was only four weeks old. It is a truely awesome a/c. It was my first 777 flight. The performance of these a/c is quite unbelievable.

Returning two weeks later, we boarded the same jet and this time I got to visit the cockpit. One happy bunny!

I flew a SQ 773 from SIN to HKG last Easter. After transferring from an A343 from Perth, the 773 felt huge. As everybody else has said, you have to walk a long way to get to the economy class section at the back.

The pitch seemed to be generous (I think more than the A343) and seat really comfortable. There also seemed to be more width than the A343 especially in the 3 seat configuration.

It was also really quiet.

Yes, you're quite right - more hurry, less haste!

I meant, Tokyo to Osaka!

I flew on an Emirates Boeing 777-300. As everyone else has already said: it's HUGGGGGGGE. I was in shock! The inflight entertainment system is more modern (also, bigger screens, I think though not sure) than those on the rest of their 777s...

I also noticed that the 777-300 seemed to be not as powerful as the 777-200, and used up almost the entire runway to take off.

Shankly, you flew the same aircraft, I assume, as I did. When you visited the cockpit, did you see the video monitors showing the belly mounted camera views, used for ground navigation? ?
