Northwest 757-300 Engine Choice?

Mon Jan 29, 2001 11:13 am

Hello,

I have not heard what engine Northwest will use on there 757-300. The logical choice would be PW since all of there 757-200s are fitted with PW engines. However last summer I heard that the only engine available on the 757-300 was the RR engine. RR was the only engine maker who made one strong enough for the 757-300. According to the Boeing web page the 757-300 is available with both PW and RR engines. As far as I know nobody has received a PW powered 300. In fact Condor's 757-300s are RR powered and the 757-200s are PW powered. Any ideas what Northwest will have and what the status is for a PW powered 300?

As per the press release issued by Northwest the 757-300s they have ordered will be powered by the PW2040 engine. You can also see a press release on www.pratt-whitney.com and www.nwa.com.
