Widebodies Between Chicago And New York

What airlines operate widebodies between these two cities??? AA?? UA?
I think widebodies could be used in high traffic routes in both US and Europe. The only airline that does that is BA with its 767s.. Also some US carriers fly them between their hub airports..

Lots of different a/c on this route (ORD-JFK/LGA/EWR). Mostly 727 (UA), 737 (AA, UA, CO), 757 (UA), SP80 (AA). The only widebody I found was Korean Air, daily 747 flight from ORD-JFK (flight 85) and return flight 86.

Besides BA, LH operates A310s, A300s and even an A340 on some european routes. Mainly high dens like FRA-LHR, CDG, MUC, MAD, ...
Sptv, can the Korean Air flight between JFK and ORD be booked ?

I found it on Travelocity. Didn't try to book it, but it was offered as a distinct flight (not a code share).

As far as I can see, from the 80+ flights operated between LGA/EWR/JFK and ORD tomorrow, none will be operated by wide body equipment.

Within Europe, many airlines besides BA operate wide-bodies. Some examples:

KL - 767s to LHR
LH - A300s to LHR
SR - MD11s/A330s to LHR and FRA
IB - A340s to LHR and between MAD and BCN
TP - A310s/A340s to LHR and ORY
AZ - B747s/MD11s/B767s between FCO and MXP
OA - A300s to LHR
SK - 767s to LHR

Yeah but compare the frequencies and I think you will see that Chicago-NY area flights have about double (if not more) the number of seats compared to the largest European city pairings.

Business travelers want lots of frequencies,not wide bodies on short flights.

And in regards to the Korean air flight,foriegn carriers are not allowed to offer service between any US cities (even ocean going cargo liners cannot offer service from say NY-FL or PR).

They can fly the route to pick up more passengers for Seoul,but no one can get on at one US city and get off in another on a foreign carrier.

Europe has some very busy routes with lots of freqeuncies, such as Milan-Rome, Madrid-Barcelona and many domestic routes in Scandinavia. There are almost 15 flights from Milan to Rome between 6 am and 9 am!

Qantas and Ansett fly 767 regularly between SYD,MEL,BNE.

I think Qantas flies about 31 flights a day between BNE and SYD with about 50% on 767. Segment time is about 90 mins.

MEL - SYD is about 40 flights a day with 21 wide bodies.
Segment again is about 90 mins

In Canada there are a lot of Air Canada widebodies on busy routes such as YYZ-YUL, YUL-YVR, YYZ-YOW, YYZ-YHZ, YYZ-YYC, YYZ-YVR. For YYZ-YUL these would usually be 767's but also A330's, A340's or 747-400's (quite often for positioning, however). Strangely they also use CRJ's, DC9's, A319's, A320's (AC and Canadian), and B737's for YYZ-YUL at certain times so you can fly almost all of Air Canada's aircraft on that route depending on the day! Royal flies A310's YYZ-YUL and Air Transat uses A330's or L1011's (I believe) on YYZ-YUL. RootsAir will be using A330's for some YYZ-YVR and YYZ-YUL flights also.

Delta, American, Northwest, United.

Each of those carriers, they fly in between 2 major cities, hubs.....

United & Northwest both flies 747s between their hubs, and mostly to LAX, SFO, SEA, and DEN....

United Airlines use 777s between DEN & ORD... thats about 2 to 3 hours long...

LH flies its 300s and 310s (hopefully soon to be replaced by 757-300s, mho) to FRA, HAM, TXL, MUC and internationally from FRA to CDG, LHR, CPH, LIS and in summer sometimes to málaga (AGP).
the a-340 flight from FRA to MUC should be purely to be for positioning reasons. that could change this summer, though, because LH increases it´s a-340 fleet in muc and so more a-340s will be based in MUC.

You cannot book tickets on that KE flight because no non-US based carrier is allowed to sell tickets for a domestic US flight-its merely a continuation of that route (SEL-ORD maybe?)

JAL operates a 747 LAX-LAS but you can't get tickets on it for the same reason-however I think UA operates 744, 777, 763, and 762 between their hubs (IAD,ORD,SFO,LAX,DEN)

BA regularly flys B744s, LHR-MAN (on Friday evenings).
And El Al fly B744s/B742s/B767s Tel Aviv-LHR.

Business travelers preffer frequency over the size of the aircraft, and Chicago and New York are two of the nation's largest business centers. Other than that, the only other people flying the route are those who connect on either side to another flight.
