I'm very impressed with the inflight entertainment BMI British Midland (as they're now calling themselves) are to offer. The seat back PTVs will offer, for all classes:
-10 TV channels
-10 film channels
-16 audio channels
-2 cameras showing what's going on outside the plane. One will be located in the nose (almost a pilot's eye veiw) and the second will be located 'in the belly'.

Business Class (which is said to be more like 1st class, minus the price) even has it's own chef onboard, and passengers will have free longe access in the United Kingdom, and United States. Also, business class passengers can enjoy the use of showers, a gym and even a swimming pool at Manchester airport.

The livery
There's been a slight change to the livery that was photographed at Tullouse. The Union Jack, although not in full colors, will be continued all the way up the tail.
Coming back to that photo, BMI British Midland were disapointed that photos of the new livery were veiwed by the public before the launch date.

The website is at http://www.britishmidland.com

Over all it seems like a very good service that BMI British Midland will be offering. Good!

Jamie.

Yes I'm sure that they were a bit disappointed, but BBC News this morning didn't look like they knew what it would look like so I suppose it wasn't that bad.

It's nice that you don't ignore my posts Englandair. Kudos to you.

Sounds like a great service !!

Plus, one could connect at MAN for services to the rest of Europe, or take SIA at MAN on any of their long distance services.

He, he, he!

I showed my dad (who's not into planes) the new livery and he was shocked.
He said (and i quote) it was "crap" and do people really design such things?"!

I wonder what the Mail will say tomorrow...!

The livery on the faked A330 photo that BD have on the new website, are altered from those on the A320 that was photographed.

The blue is the same shade on the fuselage and tail, and the union flag continues all the way up the tail. Looks ok.

Sorry, but i don't know how to bring the photo here, but you can see the A330 fake from BD's website if you go to 'trip reports' then 'British Midland International @ LHR'

I must say I am still disappointed in the livary, though the web site and other branding look quite good. I quickly came up with what I thought would improve the livary, I think it should be bolder. I think that leaves me with the same feeling that the new Delta Livary does, just not quite finished.

Now why don't they let us design their livaries,
Carolyn

Is that photo above the actual livery or is it your livery?
Because it looks great!

I love it? Did you use Photoshop? I have Photoshop 6 but I'm not quite good enough to do things like that just yet... it's fabulous!!!

Boeingrulz,

You almost got it right.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I would have a white-painted belly, though.

Don't persecute me for saying this, but the livery has grown on me. Absolutely chic! Just wait and see. I GUARANTEE you that within a year, some will proclaim it as their favoritie livery in one of the never-ending "best paint scheme" posts.

Greetings from SAS I would say!

To paint the engines in red while the fuselage is dark blue is already a pain for the eye, but these extremely bright (silver?) titles which are almost unreadable from a few feet away makes it totally crap.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for the comments,

1. I used PhotoShop 6.0, it is a great program.
2. I am a graphic designer with 12+ years experience.
3. I love color.
4. Don't tell my boss, I did it on company time.
5. I am a girl, but don't call me mam or lady, cause I'll blow a gasket.

Maybe a grass routes movement to change the livery to this "photoshop" version could start here.. BM has always had such classy liveries.. amazing what that addition of red to the union jack does for this basically hideous scheme

Carolyn, call BMI.
Only this your modification is reason enough to either fire their CI-agency or the responsible board-member (a shame boardmembers are rarely designers or even only aesthetically educated people).

Good job.

Na: Would you believe that the new bmi design was created by the world famous Landor Associates? Honestly... they do good work but this was not one of them...

But Carolyn, seriously follow Na's advice, your paint scheme is stellar and makes it look wonderful... i have an idea for a redesign of Finnair's new paint scheme (too much white) maybe you could tell me how I could go about it in Photoshop?

Great modification Carolyn, I myself want to learn graphic design as some great ideas are screaming to be let out, by the way you all according to BD the "i" in BMI does not stand for "international", its part of Midland, dosent make any sense to me Smile
