What happened to the Air Alliance or Alliance Air name? I thought this was going to be the new name. And what about this name with its past at BA, which was not very successfull. Is it the best chouce? I am not convined.

Hey Cricri.

I don't think that you should be very happy with that piece of news. Unfortunally for the 6000 AOM-Air Liberté-Air Littoral employees, this move is a sign of the resignation of the Sair Group to build a real comptetitor to Air France.
Brugisser had promissed to invest in the 3 airlines and to give them a real new name. Yesterday, the direction of the 3 airline has cancelled a leasing contract for 8 A319 because the SAir group is not willing to pay for it anymore. Now, AOM and Air Liberte annonce that they will keep the name Air Liberté, which has a very bad image amongst frequent flyers in France, because a new branding would have be too expensive.
I think that the only understandable interpretation is that Honegger and Suter, the new Sair Group directors, have decided to withdraw from France. They are now trying to sell the 3 airlines. (According to the swiss newspaper Le Temps, Air France would be interested in Air Littoral).
It won't be easy! The companies loose 1 Million USD everyday, the aircrafts are empty, and the employees have no motivation. (source : an interview with an AOM executive on the swiss TV)

Sad day for the 6000 employees!

Louis

By the way, I have forgotten to say that Air Littoral won't be merged with AOM and Air Liberte.

The transition of the SAir management seems to be very bad for the three French airlines and also for TAP and THY. It is strange that the departure of one man, Brugisser, causes such a big turn around in the Swiss management. It seems that Brugisser had indeed a big influence, that he was a sort of dicator. For Swissair, Crossair and Sabena it is good news that the management wants to focus on their profitability and that they will be part of a global alliance. But what will those French airlines do and who will TAP choose to cooperate with? According to me, we cannot really say SAir has done a good job. The differences between the long term projects now and those from Brugisser are so big that is it seems almost unbelievable.
