I don't think that you should be very happy with that piece of news. Unfortunally for the 6000 AOM-Air Liberté-Air Littoral employees, this move is a sign of the resignation of the Sair Group to build a real comptetitor to Air France.
Brugisser had promissed to invest in the 3 airlines and to give them a real new name. Yesterday, the direction of the 3 airline has cancelled a leasing contract for 8 A319 because the SAir group is not willing to pay for it anymore. Now, AOM and Air Liberte annonce that they will keep the name Air Liberté, which has a very bad image amongst frequent flyers in France, because a new branding would have be too expensive.
I think that the only understandable interpretation is that Honegger and Suter, the new Sair Group directors, have decided to withdraw from France. They are now trying to sell the 3 airlines. (According to the swiss newspaper Le Temps, Air France would be interested in Air Littoral).
It won't be easy! The companies loose 1 Million USD everyday, the aircrafts are empty, and the employees have no motivation. (source : an interview with an AOM executive on the swiss TV)
Sad day for the 6000 employees!
