BA's Public Behaviour, What Do U Think?

Thu Feb 08, 2001 7:59 am

British Airways,
what do think about their behaviour ?
what about the coloured aircrafts ? do you like the new livery better instead of the art on the tail ?

what kind of experiences have you made about delays, did BA offer a kind of voucher, or stuff like that.

what about the FAs, did u really had bad times on a BA-jet,
please share your experiences, everything about BA,
thanks in advance,
best regards
Ol
PS: in general I'm really a big supporter of BA

Generally very good experiences with BA.

Bad experiences-two.

1/ Engine failure during climb-out from EZE. We "diverted" to LIS, and upon arrival FIRST and Gold/Silver Exec.Club cardholders were immediately whisked away onto connecting flights.

The rest of us had to put with a very hot airport with no a/c ALL DAY whilst a replacement a/c was flown down from LGW. BA groundstaff ran away from irate pax, kept us uninformed, and no effort was made to offer us ANY drinks, or indeed connecting flights!! We were given no instructions as to where to go, and we were asked to check-in again at the BA desks!!

Complete lack of organisation there, unless of course, you were flying FIRST...

2/Very rude FA's on a flight from EZE to LGW, complaining aloud: "is there anyone that doesn't speak Spanish??"

Considering the flight was departing Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA, what a ridiculous statement to make!!

Other than this, I have always found it a pleasure to fly with BA, especially as the pilots are more than happy to allow flightdeck visits.

Personally, BA have generally been good, if unspectacular. As for the liveries, I'm really going to miss those 'world' tails. Blame the British press for that (as if having a Union Jack on the tail of every plane is every Briton's divine right!). Also, other a/c complained that they had difficulty identifying BA planes because the tails were different on every a/c.
The new tails are a bit bland really.
I used to think the brain is the most fascinating part of my body. But, hey, who is telling me that?

BA is a great airline.
My only experience is a few times back and forth between CPH and LHR on economy class.
I'm not the type of guy who produces sleepless nights for F/As. When I have a newpaper, then I won't notice service levels or fancy entertainments or whatever.
What I do appreciate is fast and efficient ticket ordering and fast and efficient check-in. BA is among the best.
Some airlines seem to figure that when you are on economy class, then you must feel it, if in no other way, then at least with extreeeemely slow check-in and long queue build-up on purpose while business check-in has several counters idle. BA seems not to have that philosophy.
LHR is a BA hub. Always be prepared that flights out of LHR may be delayed. That's no fault of BA, that airport is badly congested.
When there were such delays, then we were always told the exact truth immediately. Uncertaincy is always the most irritating thing, only next to missed connections.
When on transit through LHR, don't make it tight.
When BA "invented" the tail artwork, then I thought that it was a strange idea. Then one sunny Sunday afternoon a few years back I was sitting in the garden of a pub at the end of LHR RWY 27R having a pint of lager while it was used for landings. I had plenty of time, so I walked from Hampton Court to LHR to catch my BA plane and made a few pub stops in order not to arrive in dehydrated condition. I really enjoyed to have a new beautiful artwork pass by roughly every minute with planes from all the rest of the world coming in between.
In the end I had to take a taxi. I don't think that there is a way to get to LHR terminal 1, 2 or 3 on foot.

BTW TF-FIW, what made you choose TF-FIW as your user name? Isn't that the registration of a beautiful Boeing plane in the fleet of Flugfelag Islands (Icelandair in English language) which brought me to that wonderful volcano island several times?
Another great airline - only their newspapers are harder to read.

Best regards, Preben Norholm

Prebennorholm,
yes you're right about that reg. TF-FIW - I've choosen it, because I had a really nice flight with them last year to Almeria/spain.
I did like their livery as well.
