Air Botnia Makes Emergency Landing At OSL

Fri Feb 09, 2001 7:31 pm

This from Norwegian daily Aftenposten. Just one comment; The acft was probably not a F50 as stated in the article, but an old F28 Jet.

Air Botnia flight lands safely

A Fokker 50 aircraft carrying 20 people made a successful emergency landing at Gardermoen airport on Friday morning after its control panel indicated a nose wheel malfunction.

The plane, operated by SAS-owned company Air Botnia, took off from Helsinki at 7.20 a.m. on Friday with 16 passengers and a crew of four on board. It was scheduled to arrive at 8 a.m., but the aircraft had to circle over Gardermoen for half an hour before it could land.

"Several of the passengers found the emergency landing tough going," said SAS press spokeswoman Siv Meisingseth. "They were to be debriefed at SAS Gardermoen Airport hotel," she said.

Good to hear that nobody got injured. Did you see the incident personally?

RE: Air Botnia Makes A Normal Landing At Helsinki.

Today, at around 1500 UTC, the Air Botnia Flight 635 from Helsinki to Copenhagen had to return to Helsinki after about 5-10 minutes of flying. The pilot said something "it's a takeoff warning, very serious, we're unable to fly." However, I didn't hear it very clearly. The aircraft had not even left the Helsinki TMA, when the pilot advised Departure controller they are unable to continue to Copenhagen and must retutn to Helsinki. The plane landed safely.

What a coincidence.

Well, you fly with KF, you take your chances...

No, Thomas, I didn't see it (I was in the city), but I guess the landing itself was pretty undramatic.

That CPH incident sounds worse, any more info anyone?
Never heard of a "takeoff warning" though...
