Boeing takes new direction!
Long Beach Calif.- In a nondescript office park 25 Boeing engineers are quitly working on a new Boeing design. One that will that would defy convention and transform the way people fly.
Boeing is developing a plane that looks a lot like a large flying stingray. The blended wing-body aircraft would carry as many as 800 passengers in double deck compartments blended into a wing. There is no fuselage or tail with dorsal and vertical fins. This plane has the basis of the B-2 bomber.
"It looks different but isn't that different than the B-2" said Robert H. Lieberk, a Boeing senior fellow.
Because the engine, wing, and body are fused together to form a single lifting surface, the aircraft can fly more efficiently and carry more passengers than a typical tube and wing plane.
