Access Air Reaches 1-yr Agreement W/ Ozark

Wed Feb 14, 2001 12:51 am

So it looks like Access Air (ZA) will hire Ozark (the Columbia, Missouri operation) to run it's DSM-MDW service with it's 328JETs.

Indeed!

1) The plane is much smaler than the 40-50 seats they originally sought.

2) Ozark I believe only has one plane, what happens to their operation if they commit it to DSM-MDW.

3) Will Access Air simply become an invisible marketting airline while Ozark does the flying?

Perhaps Ozark is taking delivery of a new 328JET? Is there any way to find this out?

In response to #3, it certainly looks this way for the next year at least.

If ZA wanted to buy/lease it's own 328JET, how long would they have to wait?

Oh, unless the picture is doctored, Ozark has at least two 328JETs:

But your point is still valid, I don't think they have the equipment to fly their present routes in addition to DSM-MDW service.

Does anyone think that "Access Air" might add Columbia or DFW to it's routemap? Ha ha.

I think Ozark now has at least three jets in its fleet if it is starting to fly Des Moines-Columbia. Right now they currently operate DFW-Columbia, Columbia-ORD, and they are about to start up DFW-Taos. Go to Dfwairport.com for the details about DFW-Taos, as well as Ozark's website, www.ozarkair.com.

That's Columbia-MDW, not ORD. I think they are up to three planes now. They had an order for 4 if I'm not mistaken. I'll have to check on that.

Yikes, I didn't know they had so many planes. I'm wrong. But still if they do have 4, they are dedicating 25% of their fleet to Access Air, so there has to be some change to their business plan. I mean they didn't order 4 planes to use three and lease out one. Could they have?

The computers systems shows that Ozark has pulled MDW-COU/JLN..but are keeping DFW-COU.so there is your answer.. i think it will be good for OZARK..I Recommend that they also do feed for Vanguard in KC..Hurry up and order more 328's , OZARK

No More 737=no More Destinations

Access Air touted service to LAS, LAX, PHX, BWI, NYC, BOS, and MCO. Does this mean that all these destinations will never be flown?????????

I was really looking forward to seeing them in MCO.  Sad

Russ,

I don't think that was their original biz plan at all. I'm not sure about the 4 plane amount. I'm going to have to look that one up (I know I said that already but I've been busy with all this Valentine's Day B.S.) Did they really pull out of MDW-COU? That probably means they are going to run the DSM-MDW route then with one of the planes. They can easily run 3 flights a day with one plane and have the other 2 run COU-DFW and DFW-Taos. With an average of 28 pax a flight out of DSM, they should do well with those 328's. Anyway, you could technically fly AccessAir to all those destinations (LAS,LAX, etc.) with their interline agreement with ATA. Fly ZA to MDW, connect to TZ to wherever they fly.

Ozark has two 328s and an option for ten more.

Expect Skyway to start dumping its Dorks within the next 18 months in favor of the ERJ. ZA will be able to pick up the ten they need on the cheap.
