Do You Prefer Sitting On Left Or Right Hand Side?

Wed Feb 14, 2001 12:48 pm

Which do you prefer - sitting on the left or right hand side of the aircraft?

I prefer the left personally.. not sure why.. maybe because I'm left handed..?

I always make an attempt to get a seat on the side of the sun in relation to the direction of the flight.

i.e. London - Calgary.... seat A in row "whatever".

I like to read my papers and book with the sun coming through.... Like you, I have no idea why.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I usually prefer sitting on the left because when flying the landing patterns most airports have left hand turns so you can see more of what your doing. When I know a particular airport has a right turn pattern I choose to sit on the right side. But, usually the patterns are to the left.

I usually prefer the left side because when taking off from my home airport, all of the terminals are on the left side of the aircraft. This is true for most of the airports I have been to as well (I don't know why).

I have only flown gliders so I can't have a preference for which side to fly from  Smile/happy/getting dizzy However I always feel much more comfortable doing a right turn than a left turn, espescially while thermalling. I guess it has something to do with being right-handed?

Aisle seat-right side
Window seat-left side

Why? I'm left handed, and trying to do anything with a right handed person to the left of you is nearly impossible in economy/coach.

Toast To All Us Lefties

Wed Feb 14, 2001 2:30 pm

I also am left handed, and also have a tradition of sitting on the left side, in a window seat. Very rarely have I sat on the right hand side of the aircraft. I also have a tradition of drinking coke on flights rather than other choices. I don't know, it's just what I got used to and find it relaxes me to be in familiar surroundings and drinking something familiar as well.

On my upcoming trip DFW-IAD, which seats did I choose? 737-522 is 13A. A320 on the way back is 17A. You should have seen the look on mother's face when I told her row 13. She hates flying, and that was kind of a slap in the face. Oh well, she's not the one flying, and it's close to the exit. It was also the only window seat left.

Yes, a toast to all of us lefites...

But when you're a non-rev, you take what they give you and smile.

Even if it's 57B.

Where ever i can get a seat is great. I love any window seat, but I like the right side, was on the left in November, didn't really like it, must because i'm a damn righty!!!

Sitting on the top of the tail engine of a 727 is an experience I recommend you all try.
