N1858U flew its last revenue flight with UA tonight. It operated as flight 700 LAS-ORD. I videotaped it arriving, inside after deplaning, and pushback to the hangar. I got some pictures autographed by the pilots and F/A's. There were Pax and employees taking lots of pictures inside First Class. Many passengers said they would miss the airplane, touching it as the left the door. The Flight Engineer celebrated his 60th B.D. on the flight, so there was cake and goodies onboard. The F/O said he may be flying the aircraft to MZJ tomarrow.
It was rather depressing seeing it shut down at the gate. They left the anti-collision light on, maybe just to draw attention to the aircraft as if to say, "Take a good look now, 'cuz it'll be gone tomarrow."
We shot the breeze for a while, but all too soon the taxi crew kicked us off much to the disgust of all of us onboard. She was taxiied over to the Hangar Line where she'll spend the night. Tomarrow she'll be flown to MZJ to begin a new chapter.
