Swissair / AAdvantage

Fri Feb 16, 2001 12:54 am

Hi guys,

I have heard that Swissair had to pay AMR Corp (American Airlines' parent) 10 Million Dollars to be eligible to take place in their AAdvantage frequent flier program. Does anybody know if this is true? Thanks

I heard once that there was 'compensation' involved - how much I do not know ...
AA is not doing charity - they are stonehard business people, even to their partners.

If AA is going to do something, they are going to make money off of it. SR paying 10 million actually isn't too much in the airline business, but AA wants to be with SR in the long run. For that reason, I would say Swissair got a pretty good deal if you ask me.
