Seems Like United Goofs Again

Fri Feb 16, 2001 10:51 am

I have a friend that works for UA. She told me that very very recently UA had some web fares on their website from SFO-CDG which they sold for $24.98 ( yes that is correct $24.98) or some ridiculous price. Seems as though about 100 or so were sold before UA caught the mistake and changed the price etc. She also tells me that she heard that UA really manhandled the customers who already bought them. They apparently used strong arm tactics to get the customers to pay the corrected price. United said it "would help" the customers get lower fares.Seems as though this is a topic that has not been brought up at airliners.net ot anywhere else on the internet. She was told that it is something that UA is trying to keep under wraps especially in light of the problems with teh pending merger of US/UA. Is there anyone else out there who can verify that this did indeed happen or provide any more information.? Thank you.

Air Canada did it this summer as well.

65 northern and small communities benefited, I dont recall all the destinations but pretty much all fares that were supppossed to register around $1250.00 registered as $250.00.
The bad thing was it was registered under the IATA computers and everything, so you could go to your travel agent and book it, expedia, whatever!
We bought so many tickets that day.
Such routes included: YZF-YYZ YZF-YUL YZF-YOW.

747 there's a thread about it started a little earlier entitled "United Reneges on $25. Fares" I wonder if the people who bought the ticket will sue united for refusing to honour it?
