Cebu Pacific is a dynamic, low-cost carrier that has a fairly extensive domestic network in the Philippines. Despite its name, the airline is based in Manila, not Cebu. I assume it used "Cebu" to capitalize on the island's business and tourist reputation. It is owned by the diversified Chinese-Filipino Gokongwei group, which has interests in just about anything you can think of. The fleet is composed of used DC-9-30's primarily from Air Canada and Indonesia. There are reports that the 717 is being considered as replacement. The airline suffered its first major accident a few years ago when a plane flew into a mountain because proper VFR procedures were not followed. The airline handled the incident relatively well and emerged from the crisis quickly. Over-all, I think it is a win-win agreement for both carriers, providing each other with feed and convenience.
