East Midlands Airport Development

Sun Feb 18, 2001 7:45 am

News has it that EMA and BMI British Midland are thinking about redesigning the terminal building to include air jetties. they are also trying to get permission to build an additional 180 meters to the runway to take it over 3000 meters in length. do people think that this will be good for the airport on regards to PAX flights and long haul destinations available from the airport.

How did I know it was yo that started this topic. Hehe.
Anyway, I doubt it as I think EMA will be a major cargo airport but Pax not really as BHX and MAN are too close. The extension of the runway will allow more long haul cargo flights I would believe.

Im like that with NCL as well. Im just glad it ain't owned by the BAA, then nothing would ever happen. ut with MAN now owning EMA it will be interesting to see what happens

Not quite sure where this anti-BAA has come from. They are recording tremendous traffic growth and there are enough interesting aeroplanes to keep the kids interested. They own Melbourne, which is doing well and they are about to launch a big campaign to get more flights directly into Scotland. They now have the second US hub for Fedex after MEM (in IND)and are building a mini-hub for them at STN.

They are making a fair bit of cash. Where is the problem? Does it simply boil down to viewing terraces because the one at NCL is duff.
