SMF Shuttle Service

Mon Feb 19, 2001 4:26 am

Why won't UA wise up and throw on some more SMF-LAX Shuttle flights?! That route is consistently packed day in and day out (more so than even hub to hub routes), but only has five 737 flights a day, and surprisingly, one A320 flight (UA1949) on the Shuttle route...

Maybe because there is such a demand, they are able to sell the flights with a lot of full fares?

I think an airline would rather fly with 6 FULL flights rather than 10 fullish flights with lots of cheap cheap seats sold just to get bums in seats!

Maybe becuase Southwest is picking up the slack? Everytime I go to SMF, its packed with people flying to LAX, or Orange County on Southwest.

Honey, I think I speak for all of us that I don't wanna fly no shuttle nowhere. If I'm gonna pay good money to fly, I might as well fly on a real plane.

Those Shuttle 737s are so ghetto.

I agree with Fly777Ual on this. Those Shuttle flights are filled, and they are filled every day, and on every flight. UA could through a 735 on that route. It would go full. They could use an evening flight after 7:30pm.

Is there any competition on the SFO-SMF route? If not, then I don't think UA would be too excited to upgrade it.
