Qantas and Alitalia to codeshare

Qantas today announced a codeshare agreement with Alitalia effective March, and an agreement giving customers of both airlines the ability to earn and redeem frequent flyer points / miles on both carriers.

Under the codeshare agreement, which is subject to regulatory approval, Alitalia will codeshare on four Qantas return services a week between Australia and Rome via Bangkok.

Qantas and Alitalia frequent flyer members will be able to earn and redeem points / miles on all services operated by the two airlines.

Qantas Chief Executive - Designate, Geoff Dixon, said the agreement with Alitalia would allow Qantas to offer its customers a broader network of destinations on which to earn and redeem frequent flyer points.

"We have been flying to Rome since 1948 and are delighted that this codeshare agreement will allow us to offer our customers flying to Italy an increasing range of benefits," he said.
