Plane Spotter's Question

Thu Feb 22, 2001 3:31 am

My question might be either stupid or impossible to answer...

Since I am sitting by the window at work and I can see all planes taking off/landing daily. I usually see NWA 747's take off at little after noon daily and always wondering where that plane go. I could go thru NWA's flighttime book but it would take me forever to find which flight. My question is: Is it possible to find flight status or information from internet each time I see the plane take-off/landing? I guess only way to get that information is to be at the airport and look at the flight schedule screen? Any suggestion?

I know of a few sites that have live flight tracking information that might give you an answer:
http://www.thetrip.com
http://www.flightprogress.com
Try entering MSP as the departure city, and then a few different likely destinations(I'm not sure about NWA, but maybe AMS, LGW, MEM, DTW?). They will give you the departure time and the current location of the aircraft.

The B747s go to Japan or in that direction (at this moment no B747 to AMS due to winter schedule). Moreover, most (if not all) Japan flights operated by US airlines from Eastern US depart around noon.

Thanks you to both of you, goboeing and LJ. I appreciated that.
