First Flight Canadair CRJ-900!

Fri Feb 23, 2001 6:01 am

It's announced by Bombardier Aerospace that the CRJ-900 mades it's first flight at 21 february 2001. For Bombardier it's a great moment according to their press release. I'm asking myself: is there a market for another RJ. The CRJ-700 has it's first delivery a few days ago. This 900 has only 16 seats more. Wouldn't it be too much for the RJ-market. Embraer has also planned the EMB-170 and -190 in this segment. And Bombardier has only 14 firm orders for the 900.
What do you guys around the world think of this?

Well obviously they think there is a market for the plane, If they didn;t then they would not have built it...furthermore, if EMB is building a plane to compete with the CRJ700/900 then they must also think that there is a market for it.....From your post you sound like you are saying that there is no market for a Bombardier plane of that size, but there is for the Brazilian version????

Ya, Embraer145, it seems as if you are favoring the Embraer planes instead of Bombardier planes. Why?

The CRJ-700 and -900 is a huge inprovement from the CRJ-200. The ceiling is higher and so are the windows. The CRJ-900 will have 3 classes (Business, Super Economy and Economy). What improvements will the new Embraer planes have?

You're right about that I think the market is big enough for one of the manufacturers. If I look to the orderbooks the CRJ-line has the best outlook. I was only asking myself wouldn't the 700 kill the 900. Specially when I look to the firm orders for the moment.
It's up to the customers which manufacturer is getting the preference.

The -900 has an advatage over the -700. It has multiple classes and it is bigger.

If just chosen a nickname noise. That has nothing to do with my preferences for Embraer or Bombardier. I just needed a nickname. That's the only reason

Any compnay no mater which one does studies on their future products, and they don't build planes unless they have enough orders to build the planes...lets wait and see how the customers like the planes before we analize which is better, or which is needed.
